Duplicate workouts creating

I have a problem where I will track a workout (start and stop on my Fitbit Ionic) and this syncs to my profile fine. I edit the workout (in the android app) to change the name to be more specific. So far so good. However, on occasion, maybe 50% of the time, when I go back into the app later in the day and refresh it, these workouts will duplicate : showing the original workout AND also the workout I just renamed, therfore duplicating the activity shown in the app. 

I have had this issue for about a year, and I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app multiple times and still have the issue. 

I am able to delete the duplicates in the app, but this isnt something I should have to do. This is also a major problem as this duplicate activity syncs to my weight watchers account, but in WW I am unable to delete the duplicate workout. Such a pain!

I've gone though the community boards and can see this problem has also occurred for other users for the past few years, on different devices and different app versions/software. 

Massive bug that needs to be fixed!  Please!

@TashL884 I was having similar issues with my walks and runs being duplicated. It finally resolved, and may have been related to syncing with other services, like Google Fit, etc. If you're sharing your fitbit data with other services, you might try turning that off for a few days to see if that is the cause. I wish I could remember the details, as I am still sharing my data to other services, but I'm pretty ssure it resolved when I deleted some non-essential ones.
