Did you mean:

Everytime fitbit syncs, my step count goes down to before I exercised.

My old fitbit died and I uploaded a new one.  I exercised, looked at my fitbit and I was at 28,000 steps.  I synced the fitbit to my phone and now I am back to 22,000

I have tried reseting, force start, blue tooth on and off. No luck.

Any ideas?

This is VERY frustrating.

@Algenon hope you are doing OK. If your tracker is properly recording the steps up until you sync I don't think the tracker has any issue, nor any syncing issue.

Usually when steps "disappear" this has to do with the application or the account. Usually for steps to disappear from the daily steps you need one of two conditions, Either manually logging an activity, but then you would be aware of this, or an activity is being logged automatically, and this is from Smart Track. This feature is very useful when properly configured but if simply left alone it can create confusing results.

On your Fitbit.com dashboard head over to your device settings. If you scroll all the way to the bottom you will see the activities you want smarttrack to track automatically and after how long to start the record. To avoid any confusion make sure you set different times for any activity you do wish to be tracked and select "ignore" for the activities you do not want recognized or the ones you would rather track by yourself.

Here is how my SmartTrack is set up:

undefined

Let me know once you check on this if you still miss any steps and we will look for other probable causes.

See you soon!

Thanks for your input but This was not the problem.  I know about how to log  in for exercise and how it works because I do this daily.  I was not logging in any activity at the time.

This was the problem: My count would be 22859.   I would walk 50 steps and my fitbit on my wrist would read 22909.  I would then sync with my phone and the count on both the phone and my wrist fitbit would go back to 22859.

It started working correctly the next day so I am thinking it was a system issue.( from the posts I saw I was not the only one)   I lost quite a few steps though.

I mentioned this befoere that it would be nice if there is a systme wide problem of some sort there should an announcement pinned at the top so people do not think it is their fitbit that is on the fritz.

@Algenon Happy to hear that your tracker is now working as it should and thank you for your suggestion about notifying users of any system issues.

I'll be around!
