Exercise auto track not working

Hi, I have a Versa and it has always auto tracked when I'm on the elliptical but now it doesn't.  I have to use the "workout" mode to track when I'm on the elliptical.   I've checked settings and restarted both Versa and phone app.

Hello @pattieprit, welcome to the Community Forums!

First, I'd like to appreciate your effort and patience troubleshooting your Versa prior to posting, the information that was shared in your post regarding this situation is also appreciated. To better assist you with this, can you please let me know when was the first time you experienced this and how many times since then? Also, this occurs only with the elliptical exercise or with other activities too?

Let me share with you that Fitbit devices are designed to track steps and activity level during step-based activities such as walking, running, or hiking. Though your body is in motion while on exercise machines like the elliptical, this activity doesn't require steps. I recommend you creating an activity log for activities where step count isn't the best indicator of activity level. For instructions on how to manually log an activity, please check this help article.

Keep me posted and let me know if you have any additional questions.

Hi- do my Fitbit has always tracked me on the elliptical automatically,
I'm on it for an hour, 7 days a week, and my heart rate is in the 150's so
it tracks.

This started happening earlier this week. Today- when I looked at the
watch it was only showing steps, number of hours active and heart rate. It
wasn't showing sleep stats or exercise. I had to reset it again and it
showed back up.

Not sure why it's being glitchy.
