After having a cheap Huawei fitness watch for a few mths I decided to upgrade. After some research I settle for the Fitbit Charge 4. Everything I'd read convinced me I'd be getting a premium product and app. Immediately I was disappointed.
Mainly with the app compared to the Huawei health app there are more features in the Fitbit app however it's seriously lacking in some good features I liked in the Huawei health app. Here are some and some other thoughts I have:
1. The voice over feedback during exercise is poor and dated to say the least. The voice itself is robotic, to fast and cannot be changed to a different voice. The detail it gives is so very basic: distance, time, pace. No heart rate, no encouragement and no feedback on goals reached etc..
2. The watch app has cycle and other exercises the app is missing. This seems like an oversight. This means no feedback at all from the app while cycling etc.
3. This app fails to identify broken sleep patterns reporting for example only 1 hours sleep for the night when in fact 8 hours was had after being waken an hour in and awake for a few moments before returning to sleep.
4. Starting an exercise should be quick and easy. This is problematic and fiddly.
5. When reviewing steps, floors, distance & Cal's you should be able to swipe left and right to the next one rather than returning the main screen to select the next. There should also be an overlay of all 4.
6. There is no ability to zoom in any graph.
7. The app doesn't appear to use calibration of each person to determine; cardio, fat burn and Peak. Making these levels the same for everyone. Yes in the options it appears custom levels can be set however how is anyone supposed to know what theirs are for their age, weight and physical condition.
8. The app should auto deter types of exercise and log it as such. You shouldn't need to specifically select walk, run, swim. This also appears in the options however in practice doesn't appear to work. Yes the steps are counted but the excerise is not added.
9. Periods of exercise logged cannot be edited. The other day my phone died just as I'd completed my exercise therefore I had to wait till I could charge my phone to finish the exercise, this added considerable time to the exercise I couldn't correct.
10. Profile images cannot be easily reset to blank or plain colour.
11. Activity and wellness reports should be accessed via the main page and not through several clicks in settings. These are not settings changes.
12. Over to the watch app now, the faces don't appear to have a 24 hour clock option. None appear to show the day or date either on the first page.
13. The position of the options like exercise, Spotify etc cannot be changed.
14. There appears no option to take a heart rate or saturation. Yes they're shown but there is no way to request them.
15. Goals reached on the watch app are not relayed to the phone app and broadcasted in the voice over.
16. Goals reached on the watch app are indicated by noise and vibration however you must tap the left button to see the notification. Be better for it to show for at least a few seconds on screen especially if this is achieved during exercise.
Recommendations: work on the voice feedback it's truly awful!

In regards to the sleep data tracked, learn more about it in this article What should I know about Fitbit sleep stages? .
4. There are two ways to start an exercise, you could use SmartTrack or the exercise app on your Charge 4.
7. Fitbit personalizes your heart-rate zones using your heart rate reserve, which is the difference between your maximum heart rate* and your resting heart rate (source). Learn more about it in this article How do I track heart rate with my Fitbit device?
12. To change to a 12 or 24 hour clock, follow these steps.
Hope this helps.
