FitBit 4.25.1 no longer allows zoom-in on GPS tracked walk activities

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

When viewing the GPS track of a walk activity, tapping on the map invokes a similar screen where the mile distance markers are placed on the track. If memory serves, one could zoom-in in the map by 'spreading out' the map with two fingers.  This no longer works.

The top left X for dismiss works as required and the bottom < prior display arrow also works as required; the screen is not frozen, it just won't zoom.

Tried zooming on older GPS tracks, pre 4.22; they still open up but also do not zoom.

AFAIK, 4.24.1 did zoom, but can't be 100% sure.

Hello @MH42

I'm not sure if this will help. I got an update to the Android Fitbit app today, so my current version is 4.25.2.

You might want to see if you have an update to the app.

Thanks for the heads-up.  I did the update and a phone restart.

Unfortunately 4.25.2 does not fix the zoom-in issue.

Hello @MH42

Thank you for letting me know you updated to the current version of the Fitbit app and still have a problem with zooming on the maps.

I checked on one of my workouts that I accidentally tracked on my Pixel Watch as a run, so it has a map. I was able to tap on the map and zoom in & out. So, it does seem like there's a bug.

For now, you can submit this to the team using the Feedback option in the Fitbit app. Tap on your picture/avatar in the upper right of the Today app. Select Feedback and complete the steps to submit. As far as I know, the team receives and reviews the reports. However, you likely won't get a response.

I'll keep monitoring the forums and will report back if I learn of any updates to this bug.

I'm having the same issue on 4.26.1

I used to be able to zoom but not anymore.

Thanks for posting.

Yes, I can also confirm that the 4.26.1 update does not fix the zoom issue. You might consider adding your other hardware and software versions as the bug might be configuration specific,

My Fitbit app is on 4.26.1 as well. When I look at the map for my walk all I see is a 'bullseye' in the centre, I cannot zoom in or out. It makes the track function kinda useless.

I can confirm that FitBit update 4.27 does not fix the zoom issue.

Hello @MH42

Thank you for letting us know that you still can't zoom in on the GPS map, even after updating to version 4.27.  Although there was an expectation that multiple issues would be resolved with this update, this update has fallen short from the user reports I've seen as well as my own experience.

Please continue to submit feedback using the Fitbit app so that the team gets the bug report. If I learn of any updates on fixing this issue, I'll report back.

I noticed yesterday, 18-Oct-2024, that Fitbit 4.27 now correctly scrolls and zooms on the GPS map. Perhaps the issue was a back-end problem which is now resolved. From my perspective this problem has now been completely resolved and can be closed.

Still not working for me, even on my new phone.

Sadly, my testing was incomplete; it seems that Fitbit 4.27 will only scroll and zoom GPS activities that were recorded using Fitbit 4.27.

FitBit 4.27 will open pre-4.27 GPS activity tracks and you can select them and it will redisplay the GPS track with mile/kilometer markings but it will not scroll or zoom.

Was your test case recorded with FitBit 4.28, or an earlier version?

It was recorded with an earlier version.

I'll be out tomorrow for a ride, I'll try recording and report back!

I recorded a GPS walk activity with 4.28 and cannot scroll or zoom the GPS track.

I spent a supernaturally boring hour going back over GPS walk activites from this year (not every single one!). It can read all of them and you can click on them to see the distance markers. But, as far as scroll and zoom, FitBit 4.28 can manage a few random GPS tracks in May and June, then a few weeks in late July and August, a few last week and then nothing, nada.

Problems with backward compatability can be expected, but not being able to process the same GPS track that you just recorded?

I recorded a GPS walk activity with FitBit 4.28.2 and it was able to scroll and zoom the GPS track.

That said, the ability to scroll and zoom older GPS walk activities is hit or miss as previously reported with previous incarnations of FitBit.

New version Fitbit 4.29 appears to open, scroll and zoom previously recorded GPS walk activities!  I succesfully tested some randomly selected previous activites going back several months. I have not yet recorded a GPS walk activity with 4.29. YMMV
