I have a Samsung Note 5. I had to reach out to Fitbit support to get help on connecting the device to my phone. The Fitbit is connected to my phone but does not recalibrate each day to start from zero. I know my phone is not a preferred device but I was not aware of this when I pre-ordered the FitBit Alta.
It seems like a bug that needs to be fixed.

@Alisat79 It's great to see you in the Community! So sorry to hear that your Fitbit tracker is not connecting with your Note 5. I'd like you to take a look at this post, especially Erick's post. It contains extra info about the compatibility with the Samsung Note 5.
