Fitbit Alta synching issue

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I have had a look through the forum and on the Fitbit help, and have found nothing that will help me so far.

i have a Fitbit Alta and have sone for quite a few months now. Until about 2 weeks ago I have had no issue connecting it to my HTC m8 (contrary to what the Fitbit help indicates). I have restarted my phone a number of times and it has not fixed the issue. It also appears there is a software update required for my Fitbit which is not working either.

Can someone please help me. The synching is the exact reason I changed from a Garmin to a Fitbit.

Hello @CathyT73! Thanks for stepping into the Fitbit Forums.

Thanks for letting me know that you've tried to reset your M8. My question in this case would be if you're getting any error message and if so, what does it say?

In the meantime, let's try to restart the Alta itself. To do so, follow these steps:

  1. Plug your Fitbit as if you're going to charge it.
  2. Press the button on your charging cable three times within eight seconds, briefly pausing between presses. The button is on the end of the charging cable that is plugged into your computer.
  3. Eight seconds after the first button press, you'll see the Fitbit logo on the screen. This means Alta is restarting.
  4. After you see the logo you can unplug your tracker from the charging cable and try to sync once again.

Look forward to your reply so that we can get this situation straightened out.

Hi Lanuza,

The resetting of the Fitbit didnt work. It actually took me a few goes to get it to reset.

I ended up unpairing the two devices and repairing them through the Blutooth menu on my phone. It seems to be working ok at the moment, though I hope this is not likely to be a repetitive issue.

Thank you for trying to help.

Hey @CathyT73

Thanks for letting me know how you went about it. If the restart didn't work I was going to suggest something very similar to what you did.

As for the issue itself, it shouldn't happen again. If it does, you could repeat the same process and it should get the trackers working again.

If you have any questions do not hesitate to let me know.
