Fitbit App Bugs and Clockface no longer sending Web requests

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

We are an academic team conducting a study using a private clockface and several Versa 4 watches. We distribute a custom clockface to our participants, who then set it up on their watches. The clockface is used to show surveys at certain times of the day and participants submit these surveys from their watches.

I’d like to report two issues that I and our users have just encountered with the latest FitBit app (Version 4.28.3 and Version 4.29):

- Web Requests issued by the Clockface or Companion don’t work anymore
Our app submits web requests through the companion. The companion uses the fetch API to submit POST requests. Our server logs don’t show any requests arriving. When using the FitBit SDK simulator, sending requests works correctly, which indicates that this is not an issue in our backend. We still have participants who successfully send requests. However, they might be using an older version of the app. Participants who installed the clockface today have all failed to send any requests. It is unclear when they installed the FitBit app, but it’s possible that they have been using the FitBit app for a longer time already before starting the study. Participants use both Android and iOS versions of the app.

- Button for “Remove Clockface” is invisible
In other versions of the FitBit Android app, it was possible to remove a clockface by clicking a button labeled "Remove Clockface". Now, this button has become invisible. You can still remove clock faces, but you have to guess where the button is.

Please let us know if there is anything that we can do to help troubleshoot or resolve this.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi @isic, and welcome to the community forums.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, and the steps that you've tried on your end. This is odd and to further investigate what may be occurring, please confirm the following information:

  • What is your country or region?
  • How many users are being affected by this issue?
  • What is the name of the problematic clock face?
  • Take a screenshot of the invisible button to remove the clock face and attach it to your reply.

Hi @isic - if you look through posts, versions of the Fitbit App have known syncing and other problems which can mean that data cannot be transferred successfully.

If the OS Simulator doesn't have the same issue it points to Fitbit app bugs, which may be fixed in later, or not exist in older, versions.

For clarity the clock removal button only appears when the clock face is not the active clock face but if that is not working too it also could be related to Fitbit App bugs.
