I have the same phone and had the same problem. I tried reinstalling and rebooting the phone, but the app kept on crashing immediately after opening it.
Then i noticed that the app kept installing to my sd-card and not the internal memory. So I uninstalled the app, ejected the sd-card, reinstalled the app and mounted the sd-card again. Now it works perfectly.

Welcome to the Forums @BarbaraFielden.
Thanks for sharing those details.
It is possible that it is related to where the app is installed. If it is installed on an external drive, like an SD card, then that could explain why this is happening. Let's check on it:
That should help so that it doesn't crash anymore.
Let me know if there are any further questions.

Hi there I am having this problem as well.
I have a Sony Xperia Z3 Compact - Running android version 7.1.1
I have just found my old fitbit force (lost down the back of a sofa) and am trying to get it back up and running again. I can sync with my computer (so it isnt a problem with the fitbit force) but every time i open the app on my phone it repeatedly shuts down, unless i stop bluetooth at which point it is fine, I therefore presume it is the attempt to sync which causes the app to crash.
So far I have:
- Unistalled and reinstalled the app
- restarted the phone
- reset the fitbit
- checked that the app is installled on the phone's internal memory not my sd card
- freed up some storage space
I seem to have exhaused the suggestions from this forum. Anyone got anything else to try?

Welcome to the Forums @amyb1990. Hello @Crazy-Fritter.
@amyb1990 Thanks for trying all of those steps to get your Fitbit to work with your Xperia Z3 before posting in here.
Given that the Z3 is not part of the supported devices list we cannot guarantee that the functionality will be at 100%. It is very possible that it could be an optimization issue.
Alternatively, it is possible that it could be related to some sort of firewall or app that terminates the process when you are trying to sync. If you are using some sort of antivirus or firewall, be sure to add the Fitbit app to any exceptions so that it can work correctly.
Feel free to reach out with any further questions.

I have reinstalled the App with a new ROM on my phone (Galaxy S9) which was working fine with my Charge 2 before and suddenly I also faced constant crashing whenever my Charge 2 would sync (the App was fine with Bluetooth disabled). First I thought it was due to rooting and other tweaks I have running. I tried a lot of things (uninstalling, rebooting, clearing cache etc.).
As it turns out it was a simple permissions issue which the App didn't seem to check properly. Unfortunately I am not sure which one exactly, but I allowed all of them manually apart from the camera and everything has been working as expected again.
So be sure to check app permissions when troubleshooting.
Edit: After another reboot or two it stopped working again. My current (hopefully permanent) solution is to deactivate XPrivacy (instead of just permitting access to every request) for the app. The Fitbit App has been working for a few days now without issues.

Hi all,
Adding my name to the list of issues. I just bought both an Inspire and a Charge 3, and cannot get either of them setup on my Kindle Fire HD tablet. The tablet is not rooted and the FitBit app is available through the Amazon App store on the Kindle.
When I go to add a device, and select the device that I have, it unexpectedly crashes out of the setup process and brings me back to the "account" view in my Fitbit app. It doesn't matter how many times I do this it happens every time.
Any ideas?

Hello @SunsetRunner.
Thanks for sharing that information and the details that you have shared.
In this case this might be happening because of the location where the app is installed, as I mentioned before. Be sure to try the steps I shared in here. They would definitely help in preventing the app from crashing.
Let me know if you have any further questions.
