Fitbit Google account migration

So I migrated tonight through the app to a my Google account I thought why not.  Well guess what I got data unavailable from all my friends. What on earth?

Reason I have Fitbit my Google pixel watch and have had many fitbits is so I can see my friends their progress which is now gone aparently there's no going back to a Fitbit account.

Let me be quite clear. This is completely unacceptable without warning you encourage people to switch yet they lose their friend access.  You don't even warn them and there's no going back. The solution is to create account and try to get your friends to friend, but with a new account you  lose all your data.  Apparently everyone will be forced to in 2024/2925 so I have to wait 2 years to see my friends again? Is that what Fitbit/google is saying.  I am very upset/ angry.

Again absolutely unacceptable because there was no warning. Why have a Fitbit? Why have a pixel watch when now you have no friends?

There have been outages changes to features fine we're in a transition.. but this was a known issue. You advertised migration made it a menu item and encouraged people to click on it to migrate yet. Nowhere did it say oh you're going to lose one of the biggest features your friends data.

I expected much much better from Google and Fitbit. Shame.  I never thought I would say this but will never purchase another Google pixel phone or pixel watch or Fitbit device ever again and I own them all. And have owned pretty much every model since the beginning.  I know that I don't matter but hopefully they'll be a lot more of us. Complaining and expressing concerns

I would like a response officially from someone higher as to what his planned and if it's nothing then you need to say that

I am waiting for a response from Fitbit and or Google.

A lot of people have taken to Twitter to complain.  And according to reports, I won't see my friends again until possibly 2025.  Who on earth would think this would be a good idea.  And if technically, this is the only way you could do it fine, but you should have warned people so that people could have waited till all their friends had moved over.  Absolutely unacceptable and I want to response here

@DJDJTO Good day to you. Thanks for your post regarding your friends' data on the Fitbit app. That is true, accounts that have not yet migrated, will not be shown on your end. I am sorry that this was not specified. It is true that this is one of the app's best features. I cannot answer all of your question, because I do not have the answer. Note that we as moderators are not part of the development team. There must be a reason behind every decision. However, I am sure that this will be resolved rather sooner than later. I will definitely forward your comments. I appreciate your feedback and you taking the time to bring this to our attention. It is something definitely worth considering for future app changes. Thanks again!

So I appreciate the reply but that doesn't say a lot.  Every other platform apple samsung Garmin has a friend ledger board and it works.  I highly doubt any other platform would just break it then say oh we're aware of it and it'll be fixed sooner than later. I hardly think Apple for any other company would put out that statement or you will have to wait for us to fix our mistake on Twitter.

There is no even vague timeline in that answer. When I read your Google account posting most people will be forced to migrate to a Google account by 2024.  That's 17 months from now.  Is that the timeline we're talking about?

So again I ask the question when I will be able to see my friends or move my account back to a Fitbit account.

You should have never offered a menu item within your app to move never warning anyone that this was the consequence.  You also encouraged people to move to it and then just said oh we're aware of the problem and you'll have to wait till everyone migrates on Twitter.

@DJDJTO Thanks for getting back to me. I honestly do not know when this will be resolved, else I would have shared it with you. I really think it will definitely be resovled before 2024. This has been reported already and Fitbit is addressing it. However, I do not have further information about this situation. I appreciate your patience regarding this matter.

So is there an update from the development team or Fitbit management on this.

Please acknowledge that this is a significant bug and significant loss of functionality that was not in any way communicated would happen yet. I suspect was well known at Fitbit that it would impact users.

I highly doubt that this was not a known bug that people would experience when they moved over.  If that was the case, it should have clearly been communicated to users what the consequences of the migration were.

It not acceptable to have a vague answer such as we are aware and I'm sure it can't might not be the end of 2024.  And answer such as that really doesn't answer anything.

First acknowledge the bug. It's impact and then layout a resolution and precise timelines.  If you really are going to do nothing until people move over by 2025, then you should say that now and put warnings on the migration tool

I would like to hear from the executive team or someone in the senior development team with some answers.  Saying nothing other than we are aware and more than likely will be sooner is not an acceptable answer in a professional software development company.  It would lead one to believe there are serious issues is going on in your development team, if this is true.

. Waiting for a response.

How we found out if we can switch back away from the Google account to the original Fitbit account? That’s what I’m trying to figure out. I had the same problem as you did with not being able to see any friends steps.

Are we able to switch back to the regular Fitbit account away from the Google account or is there no turning back?

Apparently there is no turning back. You cannot convert back to a Fitbit account It's a one-way as I understand.

Which to me makes it even worse

This had to be a known issue to Fitbit. If not they're incompetent.  There was zero communication that this would happen and yet it was highly promoted. Even rewriting the app to put a simple link to convert.

@Irishgirl57 Good day to you. Thanks for reaching out about the Google account migration and friend data on the Fitbit app. Please note that the change is definitive, there is no way to revert it. You will be able to see your friend data once they migrate too. I appreciate your understanding.

@DJDJTO Thanks for your reply and feedback. I totally understand your position. However, this is just the community forums. I am a moderator that have forwarded your comments. That is as far as I can go. No one from the executive team nor the development team handle community forums. I appreciate you taking the time to share your opinion and thoughts about this situation. I totally understand your perspective. I appreciate your understanding and wish you a very good day!

The FitBit community support moderators are doing there best, however, I have to agree my experience of this is in the past is less than acceptable. I too have fallen foul of this ridiculous migration decision and its simply Googles attempt to get more people signed up with a google account so google can track more people and more information.  I currently have a FitBit sense which has has one of the most ridiculous charging mechanisms ever seen. and support drag their heels so that you warranty expires they then remove your comments as not being helpful. For that reason and the account migration reasons I will not be replacing my sense with another FitBit Its an overtly money grabbing company it does not really care about customer service.
