Fitbit Ionic won't connect

Have had my ionic for 3 days. Set it up initially and it synced to my new Samsung S9 (never been synced to previous fitbit) straight away, and did the OS 3 update. The fitbit has never really synced since then - the steps carry over to the app but no workout data, sleep data, calories etc get transferred and it states last sync time as the day i set it up.

I disconnected the ionic from the app and now it wont reconnect.

  • My phone is up to date and is not connected to any other device
  • I have restarted the phone and ionic multiple times
  • I have turned off and on the bluetooth multiple times
  • Both are on charge (they were at 60% and 90% anyway before this
  • I have uninstalled and reinstalled the fitbit app
  • I have tried and failed to connect it to my lapop app

It is now stuck at failing to connect. I can input the 4 digit code but it never syncs.

I had a similar issue with my Charge 2 but had an unsupported phone at the time so got a samsung and decided to get a samsung watch but it wouldnt track workouts accurately enough so went back to fitbit and now this. I can now track a workout but not see my data which is pointless.

I now wish I'd got a garmin instead!

Is this the new OS or just an ongoing issue?

Welcome to the Forums @Alfiesam.

Thanks for sharing all of those details on what  you have tried to get the Ionic to work.

In this case I'd recommend that we follow these steps:

  1. Go into the S9's Bluetooth settings.
  2. Look for your Ionic in the list of paired devices. If you see it, remove it from the list.
  3. Then restart the phone.
  4. Open the Fitbit app again and run the set up process once more.

That should do the trick to get everything to work correctly again.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

I've done that multiple times as well and it didn't work. Had to factory reset and lose this weeks data to get it to connect.
