Fitbit and Huawei Mate 20 Lite compatibility

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

As the topic suggests, I recently bought a new phone, the Huawei Mate 20 lite, assuming that I would have been able to use my Alta Hr with it effortlessly.

Unfortunately, I cannot pair it with the new device: I get to the point where it finds the device from the app, the 4 digits appear on the Alta Hr, I enter them correctly on the app and then it just gets stuck on "Connecting...".

I have read in the forums and around that due to a difference in the bluetooth protocol in these phones (Huawei series and others) many users have had similar issues, however it would be really nice if fitbit updated its software and add compatibility with these phones as well, otherwise until that moment the fitbit is just a watch...

Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums @matteobarbieri! Smiley Happy

I'm sorry to hear that you're having problems setting up your Fitbit Alta HR with your your Huawei Mate 20 Lite and thanks a lot for all you've tried to get it to work. I'd like to help you out with this.

First, as you mentioned unfortunately, the Huawei Mate 20 Lite is not in the list of compatible devices, which meanst that if your device is not on the list of compatible devices, you might be able to sync with it  but we don't guarantee that the functionality will be optimum as we are still testing on these phone models and due to the large number of Android and Windows devices, our team has not yet tested all of them.

In the meantime, I can recommend making sure that you're on the latest version available of the Fitbit app. You could also remove your tracker from the connected Bluetooth devices on your phone if it shows up there. For this, go to the Bluetooth settings on your phone. On your connected devices, look for your tracker. Tap on it, then choose the option that says "Forget this device". Then, proceed to set it up as a new device.

For this, go to the Account section at the top right corner on the Fitbit app and select the option that says "Set up a new device". Follow the on-screen instructions and once you're done, your tracker should be syncing and receiving notifications but if this doesn't happen as expected, I'd say this will have to do with the compatibility.

Anything else you may need, I'm here to help!

PS. I'm moving your post to the Android app board for categorization purposes.

I've done all of the steps above, without success unfortunately.

I also tried resetting the device, but nothing changed.

As I wrote, it seems to be a problem related to the bluetooth itself, which for some reason seems to be less universal than I expected it to be.

I know it's something more on the side of the company which produces the phones, however I think it should not be impossible for you fitbit guys to make the device compatible with newer smartphones, as mine is currently just a watch.

Thanks for getting back @matteobarbieri!

Thanks a lot for the comprehension on this matter. It seems that at the moment your tracker will not work with the phone that you have.

As an alternative, you can use the Fitbit app for Windows 10 on your computer, or use Fitbit Connect to sync with a Mac or Windows 8.1 computer to access your data and take advantage of the many features of your Fitbit device.

If you need more help, let me know!

Hi,

I had issues with my versa and mate 20 lite. I found the following steps have worked for me for the last 3 weeks without issue.

1. Unpair your devices and in Bluetooth settings 'forget' your Fitbit device.

2. Delete and reinstall Fitbit app.

3. In settings go to 'apps and notifications' then 'apps'. Find and select the Fitbit app, turn off the 'power Intensive prompt' and under app launch turn off the automatic option and have the three manual options on.

4. Go back to the list of apps and there is a settings option at the bottom. Select this, then 'special access' followed by 'ignore battery optimisation'.

5. Change the allowed drop-down to all apps then find Fitbit and toggle to 'allow'.

6. Pair your watch

7. In the devices part of Fitbit app turn off all day sync and always connected options.

8. Use your watch, sync a couple of times a day when you remember.

Hope it helps.

I too have been unable to fully sync my Huawei Mate 20 Lite to my Fitbit Versa. Most functions work but not the notifications and phone calls. Very disappointed and hope the tech bods at Fitbit quickly resolve this and add this phone to the list of compatible devices. Any timescale for this please?
