Fitbit app both on android and on Google watch 2 does not track steps.

Does not track steps when mowing, pushing a grocery cart or stroller.   Watch, phone and app are all up to date.

Hello @JSG1

Wrist worn fitness trackers, including Fitbits & Pixel watches, use accelerometers and wrist/arm movement to track steps. Users who push carts, strollers, wheelchairs, lawnmowers, will see less steps tracked due to reduced arm movement. Users who hold onto the side rails during treadmill workouts also tend to see less steps.

There was a recent Pixel Watch update (March/April 2025) that was supposed to improve step tracking. However, it was apparently too sensitive and users reported getting too many "false" steps. The enhanced step tracking was removed in a follow-up watch update (April 2025).

Prior to the last update it ALWAYS recorded my steps no matter what I was doing.  Something got broken in the fix, that was supposed to fix the overcount.  It is counting NOTHING at this point with a mower, cart or stroller.   I get that it might be 'a bit off' but it shouldn't be counting no steps at all.  I even let my left arm (where I wear the watch) kinda drag and operated the mower with one arm.  Nothing.

Hello @JSG1

Thanks for the additional info.

I don't think there's any troubleshooting that we can suggest at this point.

Please submit this issue using the Feedback option in the Fitbit and Pixel Watch apps. The feedback reports go directly to the respective teams for review.
