So, I like to frequently open up the fitbit app to look at my progress each day. Today, when I woke up, I got out of bed and went into the bathroom, and decided to open the app.
It said 47 steps. Reasonable. But then, right in front of my eyes, it suddenly jumped to 26,000 steps. Mileage stayed the same, as did calories.
I checked my history, and it's actually registering these extreme values in the past. While I definitely have walked this much in the past, I haven't recently.
I'm using the mobile tracking as I don't have the money for a smart watch of any sort right now.
Any help?

@JohnnyRow Thanks for your input.
@Gamershy Welcome to the forums. Thanks for reaching out about the step counting with your mobile device.
This is indeed an occasional situation with MobileTrack. Since the device detects steps based on movement, it happens sometimes that the vibration of the device or other movements are recognized as steps. I personally do not use MobileTrack. It seems that it takes some time to sync the data recorded. That could be the reason the step count suddently rose to 26k steps. I would set it up again and try to leave the device in a flat surface. Is this the first time it happens? Or does it happen often? Make sure your app is up to date. Thanks in advance.

That has been an occasion issue for many years. Fitbit has not addressed it but, from my very limited observations, it seems to happen to people who have MobileTrack set up as a device. That is intended to allow you to count steps via your phone when you don't take your Fitbit, but many people seem to have it set up as a device without even knowing it. If you have it set up as a device and are not intentionally using it, I suggest deleting it as a device and see if the huge number of extra steps happen again. Though I realize that's tough to prove, for something that only happen occasionally.
