Could it be the number of hours with 250+ steps per hour?
Otherwise it would help if you can explain exactly where the icon is and what it looks like.
Best AnswerI believe that indicates that the application has an unacknowledged notification in the notification bar at the top of your Android phone.
On my fotbit App icon I have a red dot with a #1 in it... It's like I have a notification or a message for that app... Like all app icons tell you.. There is nothing in the app that needs to be addressed.... and no notifications at the top telling me anything.. Does anyone have this issue?? If so did ya fix it?? Also how?? Thanks
I'm also having this issue. Would love to know what the resolve is. I have even cleared the cache and data, I installed and reinstalled with reboots on the phone. Still there. Only when I got into my notifications setting of my phone and disable Fitbit does it go away. But then I don't get the notifications on my watch when a text or call comes in, even if they are enabled in the fitbit app for the watch. In fact it says there is an issue with the notification service when I do that. So, I enable, and the dot comes back.
Best AnswerGeneral settings in the app? I'm not seeing a general settings. There is a settings section those shows heart rate zones, blocked users, and advanced settings. Even in advanced settings I'm not seeing a keep alive option. Also what impact does it have by turning this option off?
Go to your Fitbit app, click on the watch in top right corner, then scroll to the bottom and you'll see it.

Hi Fitbit friends, welcome aboard to the Fitbit Community to those new visitors. I was reading your posts and I appreciate you have brought this issue to my attention. Thank you for sharing a screenshot of the issue @PaulaPinson.
Rest assure our team is aware of the bug that shows a notification alert in the Fitbit app icon and is working on this to find a fix. Just to clarify, this is not related to the persistent notification of the "Keep-alive Widget" in the notification section.
As soon more details arise, I will keep you updated. Thank you for your patience.

As soon as I turned it off the did disappeared
Perfect, Thanks!
Best AnswerRoberto, if it's not related to the stay alive app, then why does it go away when I turn that function off?
