Fitbit app interfering with bluetooth car connection

HI.

I have a chevy traverse and a charge 2 fitbit.  My autoconnection to my traverse bluetooth has always worked fine while my fitbit app has been on my phone (since october).  After the last update, my traverse will no longer autoconnect to my phone through bluetooth.  I can manually connect, but not auto connect.

I was told to try starting my phone in safe mode and rule out 3rd party apps.  AS soon as i did this, it worked fine.  I uninstalled the fitbit app and started in regular mode again and my phone autoconnected to my car with no problem.

Now, I reinstall the fitbit app......and NO autoconnection again.   So it's got to be something with the communication of the bluetooth with these two things or the fitbit app itself.  It only begun after the last update.  Please help!!!

Hi there @suey00, good to see you in the Fitbit Community! I was reading you re having troubles to use the autoconnect function of your car's Bluetooth.

It is possible the Fitbit's Bluetooth connectivity is causing interference. For more details about this, please review the following article: Is the Fitbit app interfering with other Bluetooth devices?

Hope this helps. See you around!

The Fitbit App is doing the same thing with my Chevy Traverse as well as other blue tooth devices.  I called fitbit customer service and was told that this had never been reported as a problem before, which is obviously not correct.  This must be a flaw with the latest version of the app.  Please help get this fixed.

Mine is doing the same.  Sadly for safety reasons it's more important my car autoconnect so I'll be removing the Fitbit app until this update flaw is resolved.

I agree but this is so annoying!  I have been manually connecting my bluetooth!

I am having the exact same problem.  Everything worked fine until last month. (April 2018)  I have a GMC Acadia 2016.  My phone won't connect to my car's bluetooth unless I delete my Fitbit app from my phone.  Haven't found a solution to the problem yet...would like to hear of one!

This article didn't help.  Still can't connect to the car's bluetooth unless the Fitbit App is uninstalled.

I was having this same problem.  Have a Traverse and just got SG9 Samsung phone.  I went in 3 times today to Verizon and we got it fixed but I still don't receive the vibration of messages on my fitbit from my SG9 cellphone.  Verizon went in and had to allow contacts to be received into my Traverse and don't ask me where he found that but anyone from the cell phones company should know this procedure.  Be persistant as I was not leaving town until it worked!

I have been having the same issue in my 2016 Buick Enclave since upgrading from Fitbit Alta to Fitbit Versa.  My Samsung phone no longer auto-connects in my car.  Samsung support confirmed it was a Fitbit app issue, not an issue with Android software for Note 8.  Husband has the same phone, and his phone connects fine in the car.

I have had this same problem since April 2018 in my Buick Enclave. I have called Samsung (several times), my carrier (several times), and taken my vehicle to the dealer. I travel a great deal for business and depend on the hands free option.  No one has solved the problem yet. I recently did another factory reset and am in the process of adding back apps one at a time. I discovered that the Fitbit app was the one causing the problem. After installing the app it would not connect to my Buick at all. I tried the solution provided by Fitbit (turning off always connected) and my phone still will not auto connect to my vehicle, but I can manually connect now.

Fitbit really needs to do something about this and soon! I have purchased two Fitbits and was considering a scale, but if this continues, I will purchase another device that is not so problematic and let people know what poor customer service Fitbit has.

Also having the same issue with my Samsung S9 and 2016 Buick Enclave. Phone won't auto-connect while the Fitbit app is installed. When I remove it, auto-connect works just fine. Sure, I can manually connect my phone every time I get in the car; however my state just passed a law in July that touching your phone while driving is a ticketable offense. If I don't remember to manually connect as soon as I get in the car, I can't answer phone calls, etc... until I get to my destination. Leaving Fitbit will be worth it unless this issue gets resolved quickly. Very disappointing, as I'm a longtime Fitbit user.

I have a 2014 gmc acadia and fitbit versa. I have been dealing with the same issue since May. I talked with fitbit and gmc and no one can help. Did you find out anything?

I still have not heard a peep from Fitbit on this issue. Have taken my phone, and Fitbit to Verizon, and had the Verizon tech sit in my car on the phone with Samsung support, and they have both confirmed that it is the Fitbit app specifically, not an issue with Android software or the Buick Intellink.

No, I did not and am still having the problem.

No I haven't found any solutions so I finally threw in the towel and bought a Samsung Sport. It's app doesn't seem to bother my auto connect on my vehicle at all. No problems since I switched. My fitbit's are now for sale.

I have a 2014 Chevrolet Traverse and I have been trying to figure out why it is not automatically connecting to bluetooth and now I know why! I just uninstalled the fitbit app and my phone connects perfectly! Fitbit please fix this issue.

And if you call Fitbit customer service, they will tell you they have never heard of this issue before and to contact customer support for your phone because it is a phone software problem
