Fitbit app not working as expected

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I just opened a new topic about this problem.

But the topic is not there??

my not shown topic:

In the beginning (about 2 months ago) I was a happy user of a fitbit charge2 and my Samsung s5 mini.

But after a while I getting more and more anoid causing mallfunctioning of the fitbit app.

I do have 3 trouble items:

1) (The less anoing) I do sync by hand. Every morning I like to check my heartrate. But the app never shows the new heartrate of the day immediatly. I have to sync severall times before it shows the new day heartrate. It takes about 10 a 15 minutes.

2) (More anoying) about once a two days the fitbit app will not open anymore. It shows a green bar at the top saying: Fitbit/ The rest of the screen is white without info. I tried everything to get the app alive. Nothing will work like: cleaning the cahche, restart the Phone, remove battery, etc. The only thing that workes is removing the app and reinstall again. Taking severall minutes and also needs setup the app again/

3) (The realy, realy, realy, realy most anoying) If I do a Walk I do like to sync with my Phone for registering the GPS positioning. Most off the time the device connecting fine with the Phone by Bluetooth. But some times It really won't connect. I do need to retry about 15 times and also restart the Phone etc. Then suddenly (mostly after 10 a 15 minutes) the device is connecting and I can start my Walk. Mostly I'm starting then with a heartrate above 110 BPM because I'm angry!!

I think this kind off trouble may not happen with such a high and product.

My Samsung is beside the Fitbit working properly, also with Bluetooth using my carkit for example.

I do have the feeling this problem is started after the new updates of the device and the app.

Is there a possibility to repare this problem?

The device out of range of the bluetooth  of the Phone good be the problem causer as mentioned above by SMBoard!

Hello @Canedje, good to see you again. Just a heads up, I moved your post to an individual topic from the thread you originally posted. You are mentioning other issues beyond the syncing problems. So I would like to give the attention necessary to these points without sidetracking with other matters from the other thread.

About the first subject you mentioned where your heart rate is not updating, note that your information is not stored locally on your phone and require some time to compile your data from our servers to update your Dashboard.

If your app is not responding and the screen stays blank, make sure you are running the latest version for Android of the Fitbit app. To the date of my response the last version is 2.61. So if the issue persists please log out from your Fitbit app and go to your phone settings. Access to the App manager option and look for the Fitbit app in your downloaded apps list. Once you are here, clear the app cache again and proceed to "Force Stop" the app. I'm aware you have tried clearing cache before, but the part that is more important to me to highlight is the force stop of the app and logging out and log back in. If this is not working try to clear the data of your phone. In some occasion there are recessive data on your phone that could caused a lag on its functionality or some apps malfunctioning. This is a possibility so I let this workaround as optional.

Now if you are struggling to connect the GPS feature between your tracker and your phone, keep in mind the following requirements:

  1. Make sure your phone can track your activity when you're out of Wi-Fi range, usually by making sure Cellular Data is turned on.
  2. Make sure GPS can continue tracking while your phone is locked.
  3. Make sure your phone can identify your location, usually by enabling Location Services within your privacy settings.

A weak GPS signal can be caused by environmental factors such as tall buildings, dense forest, steep hills, or even thick cloud cover. All of these factors can interrupt the connection between your tracker and GPS satellites causing issues to connect.

Thank you for your feedback and rest assure we are working to improve the Fitbit experience. Hope this helps and see you later.

Thanks for the answers.

I just installed the newest version.

Waiting for result now.

The GPS solutions you mentioned are not the problem causers.

Because the connecting is working 5 times aout of ten without no problem.

The other times you can do what you want, but only restart the phone is worklng as solution.

Somewhere in an other topic there is mentioned that this happens if the phone have been out of the Bluetooth reach of the device and is not able to restablish a connection anymore.

Maybe is that a reason

I'm using now the new update for about a week.

The problems are less.

I had no dead app any more, so that is good.

The heartrate is building op more fast then before it now takes only about 2 a 3 minutes to show latest info. Also better

The GPS sync is not perfect, but I had less problems syncing

So it looks like the new app version did bring some advantage
