Fitbit app stops working during exercise

On bike rides I notice that periodically the app on my phone, Samsung Galaxy J3, will shut down and stop tracking my ride.  I notice this because after the first time it did this I periodically look at my Charge 3 to see if it is showing mph.  If it shows 0, I stop and look at my phone and it shows app has shutdown.  I restart app and it picks up where I left off.  It happened twice today on a 45min ride.  Yesterday just once on 40 min ride.  Yesterday I started with a fresh boot of my phone and both days I had map my ride running in the background in case I lost anything.  Two days ago it shutdown and I didn’t notice until I finished my ride missing recording most of my ride, nothing else was running.

Hello @SunsetRunner.

Thanks for bringing this up, sharing those details and letting us know what you have tried to get it to work.

The first thing I'd recommend is that you try to clear the app's cache. To do so, please follow these steps:

  1. Open the phone's settings.
  2. Go into the application settings.
  3. There look for the Fitbit app and tap on it.
  4. Once there, clear the app's cache and then restart your phone.

Then it should start working properly and not closing on its own.

Let me know how it goes or if you have any further questions.
