Fitbit counting driving as stairs?

I have only had my charge 3 for a couple of days as an upgrade for my charge 2. So disappointed that its inflating all my steps and stairs. Driving a 20 minute journey as been logged as 8 stairs? I woke up this morning with 120 steps logged and doing my make up added 800 steps!! Have i set it up incorrectly?

Welcome to the Forums @Lisap1504.

Let me help you figure out what is going on with the steps and data.

In regard to the driving, this can definitely happen because of how the car bounces and the changes in air pressure. You can negate that data by following the steps listed in here.

As for the steps when you are asleep, if you have an open window, a fan, or are moving in your sleep that could cause your Fitbit to think that you are moving. The drafts coming from the window or from the fan can feel like you are moving for the Fitbit. Are those possibilities?

Let me know if you have nay further questions.
