Fitbit flex not syncing or charging

Hi there,

I got my Fitbit Flex for Christmas 2016. My fitbit will stop working at various points throughout the day and I used to be able to charge it and it would work again. Now it will not hold a charge at all and will not let me sync at all. Could someone help??

Hello @Rebecca2810, welcome aboard to the Fitbit Community! I see you are having some issues with your tracker, so let me step in and offer you a couple of suggestions.

If your Flex is not charging or holding the charge as it should perhaps the following steps will help you to address this issue:

  • The USB port or outlet is faulty. So If you haven't done so, try a different port. A UL-certified wall charger will also work. Don't use a USB hub.
  • The tracker isn’t connected securely to the charging cable. Check the alignment and try reconnecting your tracker to the charging cable.
  • The contacts on the tracker or charging cable are dirty. Dust and debris can accumulate over time and prevent a charge. Try to clean the charging contacts on the back of your tracker to ensure they stay bronze or gold in color. To do so:
    1. Use a toothpick or a toothbrush with rubbing alcohol.
    2. Make sure not to scrape the contacts with a wire brush or anything metal, since this can damage the plating and cause corrosion.
    3. If you use a toothbrush, dry with a cloth or tissue before charging.
  • Clean the pins on your charging cable. To do so:
    1. Soak a cotton swab with alcohol and press the swab to the pins carefully.
    2. Make sure that no debris from the swab is left behind.
  • Clean the removable pebble if you have a Flex series tracker. To do so:
    1. Take the pebble out the wristband and clean it with a cotton swab and rubbing alcohol.
    2. Dry it with a cloth or paper towel before putting it back in the wristband.

A low battery charge might be the main reason your tracker is failing to sync, however you can give it a try to the following post for more help regarding syncing issues: Having trouble syncing? (here's how to fix this).

Keep me updated how it goes, I'll be around!
