Turn Bluetooth one and off, restarted the phone, still won't connect. Says the fitbit rejected the connection? Android updated night before last wondering if there's a problem there? But it connected this morning okay, just stopped about 10 hours ago.

Did the Android update to version 6? There is a requirement with version 6 that location services are enabled. Could this be the problem?
If not, then you could try restarting your fitbit. This does no harm and can sort out all sorts of issues:
