I have downloaded the new app for Android but is still not syncing. Is there anything that will sort this .

Thanks for that clarification.
This might be happening because the Galaxy J5 is not currently on the supported devices list. This means that the app has not been fully optimized to work with that phone and thus some issues might happen.
There is chance that it can work as long as it fulfills the minimum requirements, Android 4.4 and Bluetooth 4.0, however we cannot guarantee that it will. Some users that do not have have supported phones have mentioned that following these steps has helped them, maybe you could give it a shot.

Hi I've tried the solutions suggested but none seem to work so I guess it must be the phone thanks anyway.

Do you have access to a computer or a phone that is listed there? You could use another device to sync and get all of the data on your Dashboard. If you do have a computer, be sure to try the steps in here to setup your Fitbit.
