GPS not accurate while tracking biking

Good morning,

I used to ride my bike a lot to go to work and I used the Fitbit Charge 2 with my phone to track everything.

I had to stop for a while but now I'm back at it.

The GPS accuracy is horrible. I think I used to have 1 point every second, which gave me a very accurate location of where I went, but now, I think it is one point every 30 seconds... which is terrible...

I have the same phone (Samsung S7), same fitbit (Charge 2), same everything..

If you have any idea on how to fix this, I'll be happy to know it !

Thank you

@SunsetRunner Welcome to the Fitbit Community. Thanks for the detailed information shared.

It seems that the screenshots weren't attached. Let's verify the following:

  • Make sure that you have a clear view of the sky when you start the exercise. Environmental factors, including tall buildings, dense forest, steep hills, and even thick cloud cover, can interfere with your phone’s ability to connect to GPS satellites. If the signal is blocked—either because you're indoors, underground, or due to another reason—GPS won't work.
  • Confirm that Bluetooth on your phone is turned on, and your device is connected under your phone’s Bluetooth settings.
  • Make sure that phone is within 30 feet of your device.
  • Make sure that your device can sync with the Fitbit app. For more information, see How do Fitbit devices sync their data?
  • Confirm that the Fitbit app can use your phone's GPS sensors. For more information, seeHow do I allow my Fitbit device to use my phone's GPS sensors?

Once this information has been confirmed, follow these troubleshooting tips

Hope this helps.

Hi,

My phone was in battery saving mode (for an unknown reason), which seems to block the GPS for the fitbit app.

Interesting thing, it doesn't block the GPS for google map !

I removed the battery saving mode and everything is all good !

Thank you for your reply

Have a nice day
