GPS not working on the Fitbit app

Using a Versa 2 I can track my GPS route, but can't track it if I use the app instead. I don't like starting it from the watch because then my custom watch face is unavailable. My watch face reports my glucose, which is important to monitor when miles from home.

The app used to do the GPS logging when I started the tracking from the phone. Now it won't track when started that way, even though it sets up the map location properly during the beginning of tracking the exercise (before hitting the record button).

It's weird because starting the tracking from the app worked up until a week or two ago. It still tracks steps and time, but doesn't log the map location.

Thanks for stopping by @ScottYanke. I appreciate the information provided above.

Please check that the Fitbit app has access to your location all the time. To do so, go to your phone's Settings > Apps > Fitbit > Permissions > Location. Also, take in consideration that tall buildings, trees, and cloudy weather can interrupt the GPS connection on your phone as explained on this help article.

Hope to see you around.
