Galaxy S8 MobileTrack Support

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I have a Galaxy s8 paired with a Alta HR on the release notes of version 2.62 of the Android App indicated that mobiletrack support had been added for the Galaxy S8. After following the directions on the help site the app does not give me the option of enabling this functionality for the s8. I verified device compatibility on the fitbit site and it says it does not support mobile track even though the release indicates that mobiletrack support has been added for the Galaxy s8. I am a little confused with the misleading information any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there @kfelici, welcome aboard to the Fitbit Community! You are correct, with the version 2.62 for Android devices, were included the feature of MobileTrack for Pixel, Pixel XL, and Samsung Galaxy S8.

I will rely your comments to our teams to update this information in our list of compatible devices to avoid any misleading information, however I can not give you a timeframe of when this changes will apply.

If you are having troubles to enable this feature try to do the following steps:

Log out from your Fitbit app and go to your phone settings. Access to the App manager option and look for the Fitbit app in your downloaded apps list. Once you are there, clear the app cache and data and proceed to "Force Stop" the app. Finish the workaround by restarting your phone. When your phone has initialized, go back to your app and try again.

Hope this helps and let me know how it goes.

I am having the same problem, with both a Galaxy S8/Fitbit One and a Galaxy S8+/Fitbit Blaze. I have tried all the steps suggested and still see no MobileTrack option under Add a New Device. Any other suggestions?

Best Answer

Hi @HomePlanet, nice to have you here in the Fitbit Community! Have you tried the steps suggested from my previous post? The latest update I received is that the feature of MobileTrack is already available for Samsung Galaxy S8.

If you have tried the steps to enable this feature:

Log into the app and tap or click the Account icon
Choose the option for setting up a new device and follow the MobileTrack instructions.

Then try to sync your tracker and proceed to uninstall and reinstall the app again. Some users has been able to resolved this issue after installing the app again.

See you until the next opportunity!

Hi Roberto. Yes, I had tried the suggestions in your earlier post. I have now tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app again. Still no MobileTrack option. One other change I made was deleting my Charge HR from my account (the tracker I used before I got the Blaze). I don't know that that made any difference, though syncing now seems quicker.

I am also having the issue with Bluetooth pairing. I have successfully paired with Bluetooth Classic to get music control (more or less) on my Blaze, but the regular Bluetooth pairing for notifications isn't working. I sometimes get as far as my Blaze being found, but attempts to pair get messages like "pairing rejected by Blaze." And sometimes my Blaze reboots when I try to pair two or three times in a row.

Other threads suggest the latter issue has to be resolved by Samsung, and it has been an issue for many months. I'm not sure I'm prepared to invest more time in this, so I will probably just return my Blaze.

Hello @HomePlanet, my apologies for being absent from this thread. Yes, you are correct. we are aware of the issue is happening with the notifications on Blaze and the Galaxy S8. For more details I would like to share with you the following update: Notifications not showing on blaze from galaxy S8/S8+.

Now about MobileTrack, in the last couple of days I received news of this issue. It seems only the international variants of the Galaxy S8 are able to support this feature. At the moment American versions of this phone shows the  behavior like the one we have discussed on this thread. Our team is investigating the root of this issue to released a fix in the future. It won't take long to see a fix in the Fitbit app so you can enjoy this feature.

I totally understand your point of view and feedback about the time you have invest to resolved this issue, however rest assure we are working to offer you a better Fitbit experience.

See you later and let me now if you have other questions.

Hi Roberto. Thank you for the update. That is encouraging. One other issue has come up - I am now experiencing short battery life. My Blaze has to be recharged every two days or so. And I don't always get the low battery email warnings. I suspect this is related to the other issues.

Well, that was quick. The Fitbit app updated, and I now get notifications on my Blaze - phone calls and messages. With luck, the battery issue is also resolved. Though I thought that those issues needed an update from Samsung. That said, I still don't see MobileTrack as an option, even though that one was supposed to be resolved with a Fitbit app update. I did retry the earlier suggestions about force stopping the app, clearing the cache and restarting, but that didn't help. But that is less of an issue than the notifications and battery life.

Hello @HomePlanet, thank you for keep me posted. In fact it was released a new version of the Fitbit app, which to the date of this post is 2.63.

However just to let you know and you have all the information, this issue has not been address in this version of the app. As you said in your post; this update according to the last information I have received, is require an update from Samsung.

Nonetheless any update of the Fitbit app, improves the stability of its functionality so I'm happy to hear you are now receiving notifications. Just keep me posted how it goes the Battery drain issue.

Rest assure as soon I got new information of when the MobileTrack feature is fix for american versions of the Galaxy S8, I will keep you posted.

I live in Canada and am very disappointed that Mobile Track does NOT work with my Galaxy S8+.  How long will it take for them to fix this??

Hi there @dlreimer, welcome aboard to the Fitbit Community and my apologies since it seems you have not received an official update from my behalf.

I'm wondering how it goes so far? I'm asking this since in this case MobileTrack was failing with Samsung Galaxy S8 depending of the region where you are located, I know international versions were not having this issue as the american variants.

However this was fixed with the version 2.64 and by now we have released other recent updates of the Fitbit app. For more details this post will give you more information: Android app version 2.65.1 is now available - 1/25.

If you are still experiencing issues to use MobileTrack, make sure to update the Fitbit app.

To see which version of the Fitbit app is installed on your device:

  1. Tap the menu button.
  2. Tap Help.
  3. Tap Fitbit App.

Keep me posted if the issue persists. I'll be around!

Still no option to 'add device'.  I've got the latest versions of everything (phone software and FitBit software).  The S9+ just came out.  You'd think my year old S8+ would be supported by now....

Hello there @dlreimer, thank you for keeping me posted and my apologies for my late response.

I saw your post and I tested this on my phone. I have the same model of mobile device and you are correct, this option is not available in the Galaxy S8+. it is in the Galaxy S8 though, despite both models are compatible with your Fitbit tracker.

I have reported this issue to our teams and it require more investigation. So far, that is all the information I have available to share. Note that not all the compatible devices are able to support MobileTrack feature.

If I got more details I will let you know. See you later.

HI folks

I too have an S8+ and have just installed the fitbit app. I can't believe this thread is almost a year old and still no mobiletracl option for my phone. How hard can it be to access the phones own fitness data?

Come on fitbit, get your finger out. Lol

Hi there @ddoc99, welcome aboard to the Fitbit Community. Thank you for your participation @kayak77 and @arsalanwahid.

Thank you for your feedback and we are aware there are many Fitbit users who wish this features becomes available for more mobile phones. However keep in mind not all the phones are capable to work with MobileTrack. Since this is not a simple integration with your phone's data, it may take more time if this is compatible.

So far there hasn't been more updates, regarding this topic. If something new arise I will visiting this thread to keep you all informed.
