Getting an error message when trying to set my username on the app

I'm pretty new to FitBit...
Ever since I created my account/installed the app...
I have not been able to set a username for my fitbit account. Not even once.
(Which is what I want to use as my display name to others on fitbit.)
(My name is correct, but I want to be able to utilize the username facet as well.)
I have tried reaching out on chat support...which has yet to provide a problem-solving result.
Very confused as to why this has been such a technical problem in the app, and has never worked on the app since I installed it.
Every single time I have tried to set/add a username for my account:
I get the same error message:
"Unable to save profile at this time. Please try again later."
Things I have tried:
Logging out, re-login...clearing cache...reinstalling app...restarting phone...etc etc...none of that has worked.
I know there are policies on how often you can change your names, etc...
But I don't get it...Why am I not allowed to set a username if I've never set one before?
(And, of course, the username facet is only available through settings on the mobile app.
Why it's not available in settings on the web version; I don't understand, either.)

I appreciate the troubleshooting performed prior to posting. I see where your disappointment is coming from. 

 

Since you mentioned that you already have a case with our Support team, I was able to see that they are currently investigating why you're getting this error message when no username was set before. Please continue the communication with them, they'll assist further.

Hi LizLizzard_FL , That has to be a frustrating experience. I'm having the same issue like you .Have you been able to get the issue all worked out ?

I'm having the same issue along with unable to find people and add them as a friend. Was there a resolution to this issue?

Haha, that post of mine is old...if I could delete the older posts I made back when I was having a gazillion tech problems/issues..I would.
