Here's a fun log of heart rate data from yesterday. What makes it fun is that I wasn't wearing my Fitbit between 7-4:30. I had left it on my bathroom counter.  My bathroom counter seems to be pretty out of shape.

Hello @CarloN.

Thanks for sharing that picture and explaining what happened.

This could be happening because of a dust particle that got in front of the HR tracker that caused it to think that you were wearing it and had a high HR. My recommendation in this case would be to try lightly cleaning the HR lights with a damp piece of cloth and then drying it. That should remove any particles that could've gotten there and caused the HR to be tracked when it was not being worn.

Let me know how it goes or if this continues happening.

Thanks for replying and for your theory on what might have happened. Mostly I put the picture up to express frustration with the willingness of Fitbit to report clearly erroneous data.  If the tracker is noting a heart rate (and a clearly elevated heart rate as well) with no recorded motion for HOURS why would it just accept that as reasonable? If the software decided I had just gone back to sleep for another 8 hours that might have made at least a tiny amount of sense, but unless you're comatose you still move a bit when you sleep.

This is not the first time I've had Fitbit report erroneous data. There needs to be some sort of filter in the software that applies logic to interpret the data for plausibility before presenting it.
