Google pixel watch not tracking sleep properly

So basically it's what the title says. I'm loving the watch overall but one of the main things I wanted was to track my sleep and see my sleep stages. Which sadly is not happening, the watch tracks when I go to sleep and wake up fine and since I've put it in sensitive mode seems to say I'm restless most of the night which honestly does sound like me.

But every morning when the watch has synced with the Fitbit app since I have had it on, it tells me I'm only getting basic sleep data because the watch couldn't get a continuous heart rate reading while I was sleeping.

I've tried wearing the watch loose, wearing it tighter, putting it higher and lower on my wrist, I've tried even wearing it on the under side of my wrist. But nothing is working it's the same every morning. Does anybody else have this issue or know anything else I can try?

Hi, @DippyFresh, welcome to the community, you may be interested in these articles How do I track my sleep with my Fitbit device? and What should I know about Fitbit sleep stages? You will note you need to be at "rest" for about an hour and if you are a restless sleeper this will have an impact on the record. The latter contains detailed advice on how to get the best results from the process. HR is an important element, you may know that if you have a tattoo or scar on your skin in the area you wear your watch this may cause difficulties.

I hope this helps but if you are still stuck please post here again.

Cheers

I've done all that several times over. I have no scars or tattoos in the area and it tracks my heart rate fine during the day. For some reason I can't upload my screenshot of my app on this forum showing what it does track.

Here is a link to my Fitbit app data. It tracks the fact that I am asleep. But every morning says it cannot give me detailed analysis because it can't track my heart rate consistently.

Hi @DippyFresh, I see your screenshots. I think there is a minimum number of posts required before you can post a photo  How To: Add An Image To Your Post - Fitbit Community tells us about it.

Looking at your screenshots (I do not have a Pixel Watch so I'm not fully up to speed with the graphics you get which are specific to your device) It seems you are having quite a lot of disturbance at night. If you are a restless sleeper you may find  Sleep Well - Fitbit Community of interest.

FYG, this is what mine looks like.

Some nights you are getting very low sleep times may I suggest you review/try changing the sleep sensitivity setting in your Fitbit online dashboard, directions are in the second link I posted in my previous post.

Let me know how you get on.

Cheers

Thanks, yeah I put it up to sensetive a few times to see if it made any difference but it just seems to say I'm restless all night.

I've put it back to Normal sensetivity and I'll see how it goes for another couple of nights I guess

Sadly no joy last night either. The watch is still saying it cannot get a consistent heart rate reading over night. I've contacted Fitbit support via live chat for assistance to but apparently my case needs to be raised higher and I'm supposed to have revieved an email from them but as of yet I haven't heard anything.

Hello @DippyFresh, do you set your clock to the crescent moon at night? Sometimes that's not beneficial. Have you tried wearing the watch on the other arm at night? Maybe your arm is in a position that isn't so good.

Yes I put it on bedtime mode so that it doesn't tilt to wake etc. Putting it on the other wrist is about the only thing I have left to try. Last night I tired having the band tighter again I thought in case I have still had it too loose but still nothing. So I'll try the other wrist tonight.

My understanding of bedtime mode is all it does, is turn off tilt and touch to wake so that the screen doesn't constantly turn on as I move in my sleep. How would this affect its detection?

To rule out that something is wrong with your Pixel Watch, I would suggest giving the watch to someone from your circle to test for one night. However, you seem to have very restless nights yourself.

Google kindly offered to replace my watch as I was having some issues with the battery anyway. But sadly last night with the new watch I'm getting the same issue with it saying the heart rate isn't consistent overnight. So sadly I guess it's just how I sleep. Which is a little annoying that I don't think I'll get proper sleep analysis. Ah well
