HTC U Ultra Compatibility

Greetings, Fitbit community!

I just wanted to ask, Has anyone tried using the Fitbit Android app on the HTC U Ultra?

It is not in the list of supported devices, but I just wondered if anyone has tried it.

Thank you!

A very warm welcome to the Forums @fortebanger!

While I do not have that mobile device, I'd like to let you know that there is a possibility that the Fitbit app could work with any mobile as long as the needed hardware is there. Having said that, since there would be no optimization done for that device, functionality might not be at 100%.

Having said that, I hope you get some responses to your question. Let me know if you need anything!

Thank you. So in theory, it should work since it works on previous HTC devices with similar functionality. But I want to be sure the Fitbit app will be 100% functional on the HTC U Ultra before purchasing one. For now, I'll continue to wait and see if someone that has had experience with that combination responds to my question.

Thank you for your time and your help.

Hi, it's not fully compatible unfortunately. The GPS tracking cuts out so only the start of your exercise shows which gives wrong speeds etc. A tad annoying but not the end of the world.

Thank you for the information. So the GPS tracking is the only thing that has problems, but it syncs without issues?

When you tried it, did you have Power Saver enabled? I'm asking because on my HTC One M9, the GPS mapping acts up and doesn't stay consistently connected when Power Saver is enabled, but works perfectly fine with Power Saver off.

Thank you for your time.

Hi @fortebanger I have attached a recent Dm from twitter support. I have some all the trouble shooting but no joy. Now I keep the GPS off and edit the exercise when done to put in distances.

Hi @LanuzaFitbit

Doesn't look like there is anything you can do unfortunately. I have replied to Mikes post with a tweet I got from fitbit support.

Thank you for the tip, Muller21. Maybe sooner or later they will do something about this incompatibility, but until then, I think you have helped me in the best way possible.

I have the U Ultra - struggling a lot with syncing since an update in the firmware on the fitbit!

Thank you for contributing what you know from experience, SarahJOs. Fitbit is not maintaining a current list of compatible HTC devices, so all we know is what we hear from other Fitbit users that have such phones. Fitbit stopped updating their list of HTC devices with the ~2015 models.

@SarahJOs, is syncing the only problem you are experiencing with the HTC U Ultra?  Are all other capabilities working normally on the app?   Many users are expressing issues with syncing with other brands of phones, so that is not an HTC issue alone.

Best Answer

Yeah it is, everything else seems to be OK and as I say, seems to only have occurred following update

Hello everyone!

Thanks for sharing your feedback and experiences.

The developer team is aware of the need to add new devices to the list of compatible devices. There are some users who can sync with non-compatible devices. If your phone meets the requirement of Minimum Supported OS (Android 4.4 KitKat), you can try the tips on the following help article: Sync troubleshooting

Note that we don't guarantee that the syncing will be successful as we are still testing on this phone model.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Hi, @Muller21, if keep the GPS off, then can't sync, right? Without GPS, Can I get call/message notification from fitbit?

by the way, do anyone have the phone reboot issue?  My HTC U Ultra keep rebooting, and checked with HTC not the hardware issue, I am doubting if it it because of the Fitbit apps causing the rebooting.

Welcome to the  Forums @SunsetRunner.

I'll be happy to answer your questions on regards to the phone.

Glad to read that the Keep Alive Widget has helped you with the syncing.

As for your questions, turning GPS or Location Data off shouldn't interfere with the syncing. However on some version of Android Google requires it to be turned on in order for the phone to sync which means that syncing and notifications wouldn't work.

In regards to the rebooting, it could be some sort of security app or battery saving app that causes the phone to reboot when it recognizes that the Fitbit app is trying to connect to Fitbit and sync data.

Feel free to reach out with any further questions.

Hi, @LanuzaFitbit, it is so great to know that the reboot issue may have a chance to be solved.

I will try to add Fibit apps exclude in energy saving list.  But, what to do for the security apps?  I didn't install any extra apps for the security except those built-in, do you have any idea where I should set up the setting?

Thanks a lot.

Hello @SunsetRunner.

Thanks for getting back to me.

If you have not installed any security apps that weren't built into the phone then I wouldn't worry about it at all.

If you have the time, maybe you could visit one of our Discussion boards. There are a lot of different topics in there so maybe you will find one that pique's your interest.

Let me know if you have any further questions.
