i still cannot see friends on fb with the fitbit.  they have to link to me as I cannot link to them.

Hello, hello, @Janniesue! It is nice to have you around. Heart Have you tried to revoke access between your Facebook and Fitbit account already? If you haven't please do so. You can do this only using a computer, from your settings, select applications and then simply click on "Revoke Access". This usually fixes this type of problems. However there are some users that are still reporting the issue, we are aware of it and our web engineers are still working to resolve it.
