Best AnswerUnfortunately, I'm having the exact same problem. I've compared it against my Garmin forerunner 245, and I get these weird spikes from 130 up to 170 or so that last for several minutes. It's definitely not real. I know what a heart rate of 170 feels like. I hope it is something they can get worked out soon, otherwise the watch isn't much use to me.
FYI.
I've opened a support ticket with Google team, they suggested me to do a hard reset (in bootloader mode) of the PW3. I did it, but nothing changed.
I've also experienced two times the watch turning off even with half battery life, for 10 minutes it showed no signs of life, it seemed dead. I put it in charge and after about 15 minutes it rebooted. That's another weird behavior.
I replied to the support team reporting both issues. They offered me the replacement of the watch under warranty.
That said, I was really puzzled about the reliability of the PW3 and I hope that these problems will not be encountered with the replacement device.
If you're experiencing similar critical issues about HR, I suggest you to open a support ticket.
FWIW: I had similar problems with my Inspire 3. They seemed to go away once I started cleaning my wrist and the back of the device with plain water just before exercising. I also made sure I was wearing it a full two fingers above my wrist.
Those are standard recommendations that, needless to say, I've already followed.
There are serious issues with my device, I've already sent it back to get it substituted.
