Heart rate not showing in app dashboard

 I have just purchased a new Fitbit Charge 2 - everything works fine but the heart rate doesn't show up in the dashboard. 

 

I've been wearing it for one day now - no joy. 

 

I have a Samsung S8. I've tried all the restart/cache-cleaning solutions, to no avail. 

 

What is going on?

Having both "Always connected" and "Keep-Alive Widget" enabled could help.  Of course enabling both will drain more battery and cause the persistent notification, but apparently it solves most of the sync issues.
