Tried to change the hrs of the hourly activity feature to 7pm- 7am since I work night shift. It won't let me. Waste of a feature if it doesn't cater to all work schedules.

I don't understand why it limits the hours it monitors to 14.

Not a reminder, but it is something..

@Fitstacey I totally agree. I work the same schedule (7pm to 7am) and was frustrated that it wouldn't accept the times of 6pm to 8am. Definitely a waste of a feature for night shifters. I also agree with just the 14 hours of monitoring. Why not the entire 24?? I'm usually up at 4pm and go to bed at 9 or 10am (on work days) which is 18 or so hours.

This is my exact situation!  I don't have any trouble with the sleeping feature so I don't see why the activity feature is restricted to only daytime hours.  Please fix...

I also work between 6 pm and roughly 4 am. It's frustrating that this feature only had day shift in mind and completely ignored any night shift fitbit customers.

I work 1030pm to 830am Thursday night to Tuesday morning, it's bad enough my work week isn't Mon - Fri to go with the challenges, now this feature is really useless too... Be nice to see more customization soon.

I am retired, but not dead and I am awake and active more than 14 hours a day. I would like to log more active hours, but I lose some with this limitation and sometimes lose an hour due to no alarm..

I DO like the new feature as far as it goes...

I was wondering the same thing.  I have 2 jobs, one of which I am on call for, the other I have three nights a week.  I love the new feature, but I want to see how close I can actually get to hitting my active hours during my most active time of the day.  Is this even possible, and if so, how?

Will there be an option to change the hours you want to move daily? As a shift worker when I'm on nights, I miss half of my home goals as sleeping. And when I change the settings it changes all previous days so I lose any daytime work.

It's also a pain if you work various shifts. Ibe tried moving my 14hrs window and it removes all data from previous days. You need to be able to change it on a daily basis. Not all of us have a regular routine.

I'm a night owl with a permanently scrambled sleep cycle (night owl) with a fairly flexible job... and as a result I'm most active from 10PM to 4AM, and from 2PM to 7PM. There's no way to split it into 2 blocks to account for this, but just getting rid of the 14 hour restriction would fix it...and if not, allowing the range to pass through midnight would make a big difference.

I don't see why they can't just do it for 24hrs and have your goal at 14 out of 24 or something? Then when the remind to move is added (if ever) we can just turn that on/off when we sleep?! Should be a simple fix.

I work 10p-6a as a nurse. Would love to have the hourly activity feature to be geared for night shift people

You would think that as most Fitbit devices can detect when we're sleeping, they can then detect us being awake, so they should just be able to ask us to aim for 250 steps in our waking hours? That doesn't seem too hard to me.

Well, why would you put a restriction on the hours anyway. Not everyone can be active hourly between the hours of 9am-5pm. Should have left it open for anyone to choose any hours.

True, and be able to change those hour-long a daily basis, rather than it changing all days previous when you do choose them.

This is so frustrating! I'm on a weird schedule and can never do the hourly activity either.. or well not the way it's intended since I'm asleep for a good chunk of the hours available. Would be nice if they did it on a 24 hour basis instead of making you pick 14 consecutive hours. Is there a way to request that?

Best Answer
I asked but they don't have those hours to choose from. Night shift workers just won't be able to track the hourly activity.

I know they don't offer it now but I've seen feature requests put forth before and them consider them. Maybe if enough request it they'll do something about it.

I agree. There does seem to be a strong request for it here in this forum. Should have taken into consideration that not everyone has a 9-5 job.
