How do you find people?

I'm trying to find people to add and follow along with, and I'm obviously doing something wrong. I go to feed, and there is nothing but me, because I don't have any friends. I go to groups, and there are none, my only option is to create a group, I can't see any others. I go to friends, and my only options are email or contact list. It's there a way to browse and follow other users I don't know yet? I'm lost.

The ability to add random users is probably unavailable due to privacy concerns.  I know that I wouldn't want a stranger trying to follow me.

Well, that kind of defeats the whole purpose, no? It wouldn't be any different than any other social network, people would choose whether their feed is public or private, and people would choose to accept friend requests or not. So what you're saying is there is no way to follow anyone other than personal friends, and no public groups of any kind?

Yes, that's what I'm saying.
You could have your friends purchase a device and then you could follow each other.
