How to delete family account

Hello,

 

I have attempted to delete my child's account due to an error.

 

I long press down on the name and select "delete". I then receive notice that I will receive an email. I have checked primary and spam folders and there's nothing from Fitbit. 

 

Please advise as to how to complete this process.

Nvm, I got help via FitbitSupport on Twitter. Got it resolved. Didn't
realize I hadn't allowed email notifications for the Family thing. Thanks,
though!

Hi @Seapeace, welcome to the Community Forums!

 

Thanks for bringing this to my attention and for trying to delete your family account. Keep in mind that main guardians must remove all members from the Fitbit family account before deleting the account. Note that removing a child from the family account also deletes the child’s Fitbit account and all related data.To delete a family account:

 

  1. Tap the Today tab 
     
    , and tap your profile picture.
  2. Tap My Family.
  3. Remove each family member from the account. For instructions, see How do I remove someone from my Fitbit family account?
  4. After you remove all members, tap the 3 dots > Delete Family.

Hello Ricardo,

 

Thank you for the reply. I am the main guardian on the account. I have already completed the steps you provided, multiple times. The problem is that I am not receiving the email that is to be sent after deletion. Please advise on how to proceed. Again, I have followed all of the steps and the account still appears under the family account after 7 days has passed.

Same issue! I kept trying to delete, and I keep checking for an email, but I don't get one...

To better assist you with this situation and further investigate, can you please let me know which phone are you using? How many times you experienced this situation? If you haven't already done so, please try deleting the child's account from a different mobile device or from your computer.

Genius. All Fitbit/Google has to do is note that email notifications have to be turned on for Family. Thanks for posting the fix.

How long after receiving the e-mail and confirming the child account deletion did you have to wait to clear your guadian status and delete the family group?

One week. You have to wait the full 7 days. I checked it on the 8th and it was gone.

do I need to stay off the fitbit app completely? or just the family account side of it? because I have waited 13 days and its still there

You should notice child account is deleted and your able to delete your family account to start the transition to Google account for FitBit. Hope this helps, let me know if not

No need to reinstall. Email notifications have to be turned on for Family. Request to delete the child account, then you’ll get an email with a link to confirm the request. Wait 7 days and it should be gone. Hope this helps!

Except I have been waiting for 2 months and nothing happened. Support has been totally useless.

Also 10 days ago I cancelled the deletion process and requested it again. Still nothing.

(and by the way, yes, email notifications are ON)
