How to track sleeping if I wake up in the night?

Hi everyone!

I have a Fitbit Inspire 3, and have found it to be very helpful in tracking sleep information. Occasionally I will wake in the night for 5-10 minutes and then go back to sleep; sometimes I get up during that time and return to bed right away, sometimes I just lay there until I drift back to sleep. The Fitbit will sometimes record that as a brief awake period followed by more sleep, but sometimes it will cease recording sleep, even if I don't get out of bed. For example, last week I got up at 5AM, used the bathroom, and went back to bed for 2 hours, and the Fitbit documented that I was awake briefly and then back to sleep. This weekend I was awakened at 3AM by one of my cats but went back to sleep until 8AM; the Fitbit said I only slept until 3AM. Will I get any sleep data if I add 3AM to 8AM using the app? When I got up to use the restroom, I didn't use my Fitbit to check the time, but I did with the cat issue; did that tell the Fitbit I was "officially awake" somehow?

Hi @Emmie12750

When this happens to me, I've edited my sleep log in the Fitbit app. Sometimes, I have to delete a partial sleep log that my Fitbit tracked, then edit the log to reflect my wake-up time so I have the entire night in 1 log.

If you do this and your sleep log doesn't seem to adjust/correct in the app, give it time. I had one night where I was up for almost an hour due to a power outage (had to set up a couple of emergency lanterns in the house) which split my sleep into 2 logs. I deleted the second log and updated the wake up time. It took a couple of days before I noticed that the sleep log for that night finally showed correctly in the app with updated sleep score.

Thank you for that feedback! I'm going to give it a try, and I will make sure that I give it a few days to catch up.
