Hello community,
Recently I purchased a new phone. As suggested in the title this is a Huawei Mate 10 Pro which is running on Android 8.0.0.
The phone and HR Charge 2 however are not really friends and I have a -very- tough time to get this to work. Over the last weeks I have occasionally spend trivial try and error searches through both the fitbit app menu and the android (developers) settings in order to fix it. As well I've gone at fairly great lengths in reading articles online regarding issues on this subject. However, nothing seems to solve the case. So where to ask but the FitBit Community? 🙂
So one of the main symptoms appears that the app is simply not syncing properly. It does sync, but only after I open it and it takes quite some time (which makes sense as a relative bulk amount of information has to be transferred in 1 go rather then having a more consistent stream of small updates). So when I open I see that fitbit synced, well, basically the last time I opened it. Which could be hours, or days, depending on context. However, what bugs me is not that syncing isn't perfect, it is the consequence that when someone rings me on my phone this signal is not transferred to my HR Charge. I work in an open space, I don't like noisy phones, so ever since I had this set-up I've been missing 99% of all my calls. Rather then the 1% it used to be. I rely on my HR charge watch to notify me. Now, however, it doesn't.
I can get this to work tough. If I start my phone, go to fitbit and send a test notification, it actually will. However, as minutes pass by I will get an red error box in the notification menu of fitbit stating "Notification Service not running. A phone restart is required to re-enable notifications on your tracker". So, I restart and it works again, for a couple of minutes and then this messages pops back up. Almost like I can outpace the phone booting by arriving at the test notification before the OS boots the services that result in the error message.
Needless to say, to my endless trying and attempts everything I know about it already set correctly. I'm clueless on were to seek solutions. Can anyone provide some elaboration on this?

Same issue with my Blaze and Huawei Mate 10 pro. I just don't think they are really compatible. I am also unsure if Fitbit is doing something about it, knowing that Huawei is emerging as one of the top brands in the smartphone arena. I upgraded from a P9 which worked perfectly.
They have to act fast or customers will just accept the fate and move on to another smart watch that actually works. What 's the point of a smart watch if it can't notify you? Better to use an analog. 🤣

Yeah I still need a solution. I've reinstalled the app. Rebooted the Phone numerous times. This not working is detrimental for me to keep using the Phone. Normally the functionality offsets the design compared to analog watches. Now it no longer does. I see a final time if support can find me a solution. If it fails it will be the end of my fitbit usage. It lost the core attributes for which I was using it.

Same thing here. Mate 10 Pro and Fitbit. I've tried every kind of setting both with the fitbit app and the android settings. Nothing works. Time to toss fitbit?

So turns out, this is a "feature" of the phone, that fitbit would have no control over. However if they worked with partners a little closer (which may not be helpful when they have their own products) then we can all continue to enjoy fitbit products."

Yeah, newer android versions, especially on Huawei, seem to have some issues. The battery restriction is not (longer) part of the issue here.
To further clarify some details of my phone I have the following settings:
- Phone has been rebooted. App has been reinstalled.
- Notifications are, obviously, set on.
- Bluetooth is on and paired.
- Power intensive apps are set to manual. Allowing the application fitbit to Auto Launch, Secondary Launch and run in background.
- Do not disturb mode in the sound menu is off
- In notification management menu of android, allow notification from fitbit is et on.
- Ignorining battery optimisation is allowed towards fitbit.
- Fitbit is allowed access to my phone calls
- Fitbit is set to unresctricted data access
- All day sync is on
- Keep widget alive is on
- Always connect is on
I'm probably having tweaked more to broaden the boundries in which fitbit is allowed to go. But so far, nothing has helped. It synced 10 hours ago and now it takes like 20 minutes to sync. Its a drag. Also I have missed every single phone call except 1 since I started this thread. FML.
If anyone is having alternative suggestions I'd love to hear them.
