Inaccurate GPS during cycling since Aug 2018.

The GPS tracked cycling app is not keeping good mileage. It shows where I've gone accurately but it does not give the correct distance.

Welcome to the Forums @jeffreywatson20

Thanks for bringing this up. In this case I'd like to ask a couple of questions:

  • Could you provide some examples of the incorrect distance?
  • What phone and Fitbit are you using for the tracking?
  • Have you used any other tracking apps alongside your Fitbit?
  • What app version are you currently running?

Look forward to your reply so that I can get a better understanding of the situation.

Cycled to the islands and back. Paused while having lunch. Phone LG G5. Software: latest before yesterday's update. Compared to iPhone 6S, most up to date iOS. No other tracking software running. To island 9.97 km, iPhone says 14.91. From island 3.31 km, iPhone 17.63 km. iPhone is correct. Android G5 gave me good calories...etc. map was correct as well.

Hello @jeffreywatson20

Thanks for answering my questions. I'd like to let you know that our team is aware of a situation where if you pause a bike activity, then the distance might come up incorrect. In this case I'd recommend that you completely stop tracking when you stop to lunch and track a whole new activity once you are ready to get back. That should improve the accuracy.

At this moment we do not have any updates on a definitive fix, but we'll be sure to let everyone know the moment we have something.

Let me know if there are any other questions I can help you with.

My husband and I are experiencing the same issues. You go on a 12 mile ride and it shows you went 1.35 miles and we rode through the water.  That is only one of the issues.  Live heart rate doesn't show up on the dashboard. There seems to be alot of issues with the fitbit.  I had an iphone 6s and it worked fine. Occasionally it wouldn't show my heart rate but after reading through the forms I read that sweat will affect it. I just bought a Galaxy A8 and have had nothing but issues with it.  Deciding whether to buy the Gear Fit 2 and dumping fitbit as it does seem to have a lot of problems.  I see that my phone is not on the list of compatible devices, so I guess I will have to look at finding someting that is compatible.
