Incorrect GPS walk data

This evening I went for a walk and set up my Fitbit to track the walk using GPS by using the app on my phone, not on the device. Everything seemed to go fine on the walk, I checked the app now and again to see how far I'd gone and it was all ok and recording. When I got to my destination I stopped tracking (again using the app on my phone) and noticed I'd walked exactly four miles. As I walked to my hotel room I had a quick look at the stats and although the map wouldn't load it told me the other data such as the impact on my day etc. A little later I looked again and in my exercise data my activities were actually logged as three separate activities- a walk, then some elliptical, then another walk! My first question is why would it do this when I had specifically selected 'walk' from the tracking menu? (I have now turned off auto tracking for elliptical as I never do this.)

So as I knew what time and distance I'd done, I deleted all those silly entries and just put the walk details in. Now I've done this, I've apparently not met my targets for calories and active minutes today even though they were all green before.

I usually rely on auto recognize for exercise but I wanted to measure my route today which is why I turned the GPS walk on. Did I do something wrong? During the walk it seemed fine.

Hi there @SunsetRunnerm, welcome aboard to the Fitbit Community! I saw one of your GPS logs did not saved correctly, splinted in 3 different exercise categories. Certainly this is the first time I heard of a behavior like this.

I can tell your stats were reduce, since you have deleted those exercises from your Dashboard. Despite is the same distance in your manual entry, the details about exertion levels and calories and other stats are different from the original records. With a manual entry you create an average of the numbers you might have during the walk activity.

I'm wondering if by any chance while you were using the GPS feature of your Fitbit app, you pause the exercise at some point. I've seen reports from other users that by doing this, disappear information or the map is not saved. It is possible that your map was not saved and your tracker give priority to the auto recognized exercises.

Also I'm wondering if the issue has persisted on a daily basis or it happened on that occasion?

Perhaps resetting your app will do the trick if the issue continues and you were not pausing the exercise: log out from your Fitbit app and go to your phone settings. Access to the App manager option and look for the Fitbit app in your downloaded apps list. Once you are there, clear the app cache and data and proceed to "Force Stop" the app. Finish the workaround by restarting your phone. When your phone has initialized, go back to your app and try again.

See you around and let me know how it goes.
