Incorrect steps in the Fitbit app

I've had my fitbit since Jan 2020.

Lately I've noticed when I open the app that the step count is very in accurate and will have my step count at (for example) 62,479 despite my watch being accurate and having a count of (again for example) 6,702 steps and often it takes a number of syncing attempts before the app has correct count. I've also deleted and reinstalled the app

Has anyone else experienced this?

Welcome to the Fitbit Community, @Gillian30.

Thanks for the details shared in your post and for already trying to resolve the issue. I recommend confirming if you have a MobileTrack paired to your Fitbit account? MobileTrack lets you use the Fitbit app without a Fitbit device by using your phone's sensors to track basic activity data including steps, distance, and calories burned. For more information, see How do I use Fitbit MobileTrack? MobileTrack may override the steps tracked by your Fitbit device and I recommend removing it from your Fitbit account if you're not using it: How do I remove a Fitbit device from my account?

By the way, I've moved your post to the Android App board so we can keep our forums organized.

Hope this helps!
