Internet required to pull fitness data from Versa

Why is an internet connection required in order to PULL fitness data from Versa? This makes me concerned that every notification I am sending to my watch is being read by Fitbit, especially because my notifications don't come through in realtime like my settings are set for. I have the Essential Phone PH-1 with Android Pie (9.0) which already has problems with syncing because Fitbit is slow to fix sync issues in the firmware and app.

Hello @Korai and welcome to the Help forums.  An internet connection is required for syncing because your data is saved on the Fitbit servers, not on your phone.  To my knowledge, only tracked items like steps, calories, etc. are transferred to the servers.  I believe cleared notifications disappear into cyberspace.  I also want to point out that Essential phones are not supported devices, which may be part of your problem.
