Is a phone required to use fitbit with tablet?

I'm considering the purchase of a Samsung Galaxy A7 Lite.  Android 11 is installed on it.

Can the Android FitBit app be used only on the tablet -- connected to my home wi-fi -- without having to also run the app on a phone?  I don't need to see updates when I'm away from home.

If so, would the 32GB A7 Lite be sufficient or would the 64GB version be required?

It should be fine. I only use a Galaxy Tab A with my Fitbit as my phone is too old to be able to run the app. I have no issues with syncing to the tablet which only uses WiFi at home. I'm not familiar with the tablet you mention but am sure that you do not need a powerful tablet for the fitbit app.

@SteveH, thanks for the quick and very helpful reply!  Glad to hear you're running the app independent of a phone!

My situation is essentially the same: "my phone is too old to be able to run the app" having been effectively orphaned when FitBit stopped supporting all versions of Android prior to 10.  My phone is working well otherwise so I'd rather not be forced to buy a new one until 5G stabilizes somewhat.

Also, assuming/hoping that the larger screen of a tablet will make it easier to check the stats generated by the FitBit app.

And, for the record, the Tab A7 Lite is what the name suggests; a smaller and lighter version of the A7. Lower rez 8.7" display vs. 10.4" and a slightly less powerful processor.  And correspondingly less expensive.  It's also lighter -- almost 4 oz/23% less -- and for those of us who don't need the slight increase in speed and real estate, a better choice.

Cheers!
