Location services required to sync via Bluetooth..makes no sense

Please update android app not to require location services be on in order to sync my Charge HR. Location services drain the battery and I like to keep location services off until needed. There is no need to have location services enabled to connect via Bluetooth. The developer can fix this.

Unfortunately the need to have location services on became a requirement from Google with the introduction of Andoid 6. It wasn't fitbit's decision and they have no choice in the matter if they want to sync over bluetooth.

@Virg2u, many folks do not believe what @SteveH is saying but it's true; if you want proof just go over to the Garmin web forums and have a quick look-see, they're having the same issue with the Google requirements for Android 6.x.

Location services is virtually no drain on the battery, @Virg2u. If I go to the Android settings for the battery, and check usage, Location Services will very likely not even show up. And, the few times I have seen it listed, it shows at 1%.   The devloper that can fix this is Google, though, since they are the one requiring it.

Thanks for the additional information. Seems like some sort of misunderstanding between Google and requirements for non-GPS enabled devices or perhaps it's related to cell phone integration. Let's hope  Google gets enough complaints that they decided to correct/clarify the requirements.

@Virg2u I recommend checking out my post here for more detailed information on this new requirement as of Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Hope that helps clarify things.
