Hello I'm seeing multiple messages over the past 2 years that the macros are inaccurate with no actual solution.
I have spent the past two weeks stressed over how to get my fat down and realizing it's not accurate. Here is mine from this morning everything was low fat so the high percentage felt weird then I saw the grams.
30% carbs (37 g)
46% fat (25 g)
24% protein (30 g)
Why is something that is 25g a higher percentage than something that is 30g or 37g??
This is dangerous and can set up a bad relationship with food which leads to an eating disorder. The article on this is of no help whatsoever. Can we get some answers on this?

A macro that has a total gram intake of 25g can have a percentage weighting higher than that of other macros that have higher gram intakes.
This has to do with the amount of energy contained, per gram, of the macros.
For carbs and protein, 1g consumed = 4 calories
For fat, 1g consumed = 9 calories
So for the example you quoted:
37g of carbs = 148 calories
25g of fats = 225 calories
30g of protein = 120 calories
This gives a total calorie count of 493
148 of 493 = 30%
225 of 493 = 46%
120 of 493 = 24%
The percentages are correct, based on the caloric contents of the individual macros
The only issue that I'm personally aware of is one that has been on the Android app since some time last year, if you select macronutrients (instead of cals in/out) inside the food tile, the values are hyper inflated and are based on a huge miscalculation!!!

There's no where that explains this math inside the app or the website especially when it compares it to the overall calorie count which was just under 800
