Manual language selection

I asked a similar question 2 years ago and I'm hoping things have changed. I bought a Fitbit for my grandmother who uses an Android phone in Romanian. The app then defaults to a strange mix of Romanian and English. She does not speak English but does somewhat understand French. All I want to do is use the app in French. I'm not asking to add a different language, just the option to switch without changing the whole phone.

I don't want to force her to use the whole phone in French just because of one application. Please tell me there is an option for this.

Many thanks.

Hello @tudorleriu, nice to see you one more time in the Fitbit Community! In this case I can understand your request since is not very practical to change the whole language for one app as you mentioned in your post. However note that the app uses the language settings of the phone as you already know and in the case of Romanian you are seeing this mixture of language since is not supported by the app.

At the moment there is no option to use a individual language setting only for the app, so there is no an immediate option at the moment. However If this is something in which you're interested, I would like to share with you the following feature suggestion: Changing Phone Language vs. App Language, feel free to contribute with your vote and comments, it would be nice to have your support for this ideas.

See you later and thank you for patience while we work to improve the Fitbit experience.

It's a shame a manual selector has not been implemented after all this time. I will look at the feature suggestion as you recommended. Thank you for your reply Roberto

For anybody interested, this may probably be done with a rooted phone and exposed framework which should allow setting locale on a per app basis.

Hi there @tudorleriu. I'm glad to see you found interesting the previous suggestion from our dedicated board for feedback. My apologies as I been absent sine our last interaction.

Well I'm gonna get all formal and boring, but please remember that Fitbit doesn't recommend to use a rooted phone, since this may affect the stability of the app and some functionalities when syncing.  So as a friendly reminder keep in mind that rooting your phone is under your own discretion.

See you around and stay awesome.
