I recently changed my phone from an iPhone 5 to a Galaxy S5. I have been tracking the same run and the distances on the iPhone were 8.86, 8.68, 8.92 and 8.8 compared to the distances on the Galaxy S5 which have been 6.9 and 6.5. This is a 37% change in distance between phones.
Has anyone else experienced such differences?
Also, would anyone know why Fitbit and Endomondo have about a 20% difference over the the same run using them concurrently?

Hey @Graeme_SS welcome to the Community! At least two dozen GPS satellites are constantly in orbit around the Earth and broadcasting data. All GPS devices, whether your phone or a Fitbit Surge, require a direct path to these satellites in order to receive their radio transmissions. If the signal is being blocked, either because you're underground, near many tall buildings, or as a result of atmospheric effects the GPS will not work. Thus, whereas GPS gives you a more accurate measure of distance than step counting alone, the actual accuracy depends on both your environment and the weather. Also, remember that Fitbit uses different formulas and algorithms than other applications and exercise devices.
However, to make your distance more accurate, I recommend adjust your stride length by:
1. Going out to track or somewhere where you know the exact distance.
2. Count your steps as you walk across that distance, making sure you travel at least 20 steps.
3. Divide the total distance (in feet) taken by the number of steps to get your stride length.
Let me know how it goes. I hope this helps!

I have an Alta and my mum has a charge 2. We noticed that I seemed to have a lot more steps despite both having the same stride length. I wore both for a short while and the Alta had approx one third more steps! It makes you wonder if there is any accuracy in these at all!!
