How do I get to see my monthly total on the dashboard??

@Anniekp, simply tap on the tile that you wish to see the totals for, and go through the options. For example, if you wish to see the totals for Steps, tap on the Steps tile at the top of the dashboard. That will display the daily and weekly totals. Then tap on the option square icon on the top right side (below the gear). That will give you the weekly, 1 month, 3 month, or 1 year totals. From that screen you can scroll to the left for history stats.
