Multiple copies of activity and another strange 'feature'

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I've just done a fairly long walk using my Android phone's GPS to track the activity and using audio cues every 0.5mi to track my pace. I noticed two strange things:

1) when the distance got to 11.5 miles the audio cue said "12 miles". It has done this once before (at the same distance).

2) when I synced at the end of the activity, three copies of the activity showed up on both my phone and on the Fitbit dashboard (see below, W10, Chrome). Each activity shows the same start time, the same distance, the same number of steps and energy used but different times and pace. Sadly, I did not get credited with three times the steps in my overall daily total! What is going on and which version should I believe?

Hello @ChrisAtkins.

Thanks for bringing this up! I'll be sure to pass the information on to the rest of the team, regarding the cues.

As for the duplicated activity, it is possible that it was a bug or error when connecting to the servers. I'd recommend that you try to log out of the app and then back in. That should help so that the activities become one.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Thanks for the reply and advice, @LanuzaFitbit.

I logged out of the app on my phone and logged back in. No change to the
three duplicated activities.

I also tried logging out on the website on W10/Chrome on my PC. This
resulted in the number of duplicated activities INCREASING from 3 to 4

@LanuzaFitbit. In addition to my last reply, I do know that I can delete the duplicate activity entries. It's more that I want to understand why this happens so that I can avoid it in future.

Hello @ChrisAtkins.

Thanks for giving it a shot.

I'll pass this information on to the rest of the team too. If I get any updates on the matter I'll be posting about it in here.

In the meantime I'd recommend that you try to delete the duplicates like you mentioned.

If you have any further questions, please let me know.

I've noticed duplicates will pop up if I view an activity then go back to the log.  However, if I exit the app and re-enter they have disappeared and things get logged correctly.

I've tried that, following advice, but it didn't make any difference (as I
think you can see higher up on this thread), but thanks for the comment.

@LanuzaFitbit. I've done some more investigating on the voice cues and I think I've worked out what's going on. I think that the problem is caused by a rounding error: when it reaches 10.5 miles on the tracker it says 11 miles (and then when it reaches 11 miles it says it again); when it reaches 11.5 miles on the tracker is says 12 miles (and again at 12 miles). Significantly (I think), this first happens at 10.5 miles which is the first time it's in double figures for the miles and that leads me to conclude that it's due to some sort of rounding error (maybe it's only working to 2 significant figures?).
