I have a Sony Xperia X running marshmallow 7.0 and i can't get the blaze to even connect to the music side of the phone

It may not be possible to fix this. The Xperia X is not on the list of supported devices at www.fitbit.com/devices

 

Hopefully someone with that phone will be able to confirm either way.
