My Ionic stopped updating sleep, workouts, etc.

It was suggested I unpair my Ionic and then pair it anew. It now won't pair. Before I impaired it it kept on telling me to restart my Bluetooth and restart my device.

Hello @Wirefoxterrier.

Thanks for sharing that you were recommended to unpair the Ionic and that it is now not pairing. Let me help you figure out what is going on.

In this case I'd like to recommend that you try to follow the steps listed in this help article. While you have already tried some of those steps, I'd recommend that you try to go through all of them in the order that they are listed in that help article.  They will get your Ionic to pair and sync correctly.

I'd also like to ask you what phone are you using to try to get your Ionic to sync.

Let me know if there are any further questions I can help you with.

Hello @Ratpack-111.

Thanks for your reply and for sharing those details.

In this case, I'd like to share that our team is aware of a situation with Android 9 that causes syncing issues. It is being looked into and as soon as we have any updates on the matter we will be sure to let everyone one.

In the meantime, perhaps you could try to turn off Background Restrictions/Limitations: Phone settings > Apps & Notifications > Fitbit app > Background restrictions or Background limits.

Then, disable battery limitations:

  1. Go to Settings > Apps > Fitbit app > Advanced > Battery > Battery optimization
  2. Change view to All apps
  3. Search for Fitbit app
  4. Choose Not optimized

Please keep me posted on how it goes or let me know if there are any other questions on the matter.

Thanks but your suggestions didn't work. My Galaxy S8+ doesn't allow changes to background restrictions in the Fitbit App. Sent from my Samsung Galaxy smartphone.

Hello @Ratpack-111.

Thank you for trying the steps I recommended and letting me know.

If your S8+ is running Android 9, then that would explain the issue. As I mentioned, our team is aware of it and the situation is being looked into. The moment we have any details on the matter we will be letting everyone know about it.

Thanks for your understanding. Let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.
